Jeanette Ambrose,  M.A.,  R.Psych.

Jeanette Ambrose, M.A., R.Psych.

Jeannette is a registered Psychologist and family therapist who has been working in the area of trauma and secondary trauma for more than 15 years. She has specialized in working with trauma survivors, including those associated with the workplace. She has been developing and facilitating training in trauma, PTSD and secondary trauma/Compassion Fatigue in Saskatchewan, Canada and beyond. She recently returned from working in Northern Ireland providing supervision and training in these areas. She is a certified compassion fatigue specialist, and an associate of Fisher and Associates.

Laura graduated from the University of Denver with a Masters Degree in Social Work in 1985 and brings many years of varied experience to her work. Most extensively she has worked in the areas of Addictions, including Eating Disorders and Gambling, as well as in the capacity of EAP counsellor and Program Manager. Laura has worked as a counsellor, trainer and facilitator with diverse employee populations including Military, Customs, Railroad, and Federal Government employees and Managers. She has a strong commitment to personal self-care and actively promotes workplace wellness. Laura is also keenly interested in writing as a tool for self expression and has for many years taught yoga and meditation.

Lorna Grant,  M.S.W.

Lorna has over thirty year’s experience as a social worker and advocate working to end violence against women and children. In 1981, she was the founding Executive Director of the Metropolitan Toronto Special Committee on Child Abuse and, in this capacity, had the opportunity to travel in both Canada and the United States providing training and consultation to diverse multi-disciplinary audiences about the emerging issue of child sexual abuse.

In addition, Lorna spent a number of years as a therapist with women who had been sexually abused as children. She has also worked in child welfare as a frontline case worker and community worker, as well as a direct service supervisor and manager. Lorna is currently the Manager of Strategic & Quality Initiatives for the Grey County Children’s Aid Society in Owen Sound, Ontario.

Brenda Lucas,  M.A.,  R.C.C.

Brenda has more than twenty-five years of experience counselling individuals, couples, families and groups. Brenda has a private practice in Ladysmith BC where she specializes in anxiety and trauma counselling. She also works with children using expressive therapies such as art and play therapy. Brenda enjoys giving presentations in the areas of: self-care, managing stress and traumatic reaction, developing relaxation skills, and avoiding burnout.

Karen MacDonald, B.S.W., M.A.

Karen McDonald has a Diploma in Communicative Arts, a B.A. in Criminology and Psychology, a Bachelor of Social Work and a Master of Arts in Criminology. She is an Associate with Fisher and Associates Inc., and recently sat on the Editorial Board for the University College of the Fraser Valley Journal. Ms. McDonald has 16 years experience in Community Corrections, initially as a Probation Officer and later as a Local Manager. Her previous experience has included program development in the areas of victim assistance and community work service.

In 2001, Ms. McDonald was selected for training in a Train the Trainer program which facilitated the Core Wellness Program for B.C. Community Corrections staff. Her involvement in the Community Corrections Wellness Program remains ongoing. She has received a Wellness Award and a Certificate of Recognition from Community Corrections as a result of her work in this area.

Evelyn Neaman,  M.A.

Evelyn Neaman is the director of Tikkun Yoga Center in Vancouver. She teaches public classes, teacher trainings and corporate yoga sessions, and has taught yoga to the BC Supreme and Appeal Court Judges since 2003.She is a Yoga Alliance registered teacher and holds an M.A. in curriculum and instructional design. She is also the Special Projects Manager for the Law Courts Education Society of BC. Evelyn has just released an interactive DVD, Restorative Yoga- Healing Through Breath and Stillness, which presents two different routines for stress reduction.

Heather Rattai has a B.A. degree in psychology and M.A. in criminology. She is currently completing her Master of Arts in counseling psychology.

Ms. Rattai has 9 years experience as a Probation Officer. She also has previous experience in the fields of victim services, hospice and as a supervisor in the community healthcare field.

Ms. Rattai was selected and trained in 2001 to facilitate the CORE Wellness Program for British Columbia Community Corrections staff and has been active in the promotion of wellness since that time. She has received one Wellness Award and one Certificate of Recognition from BC Community Corrections for her work on facilitating and promoting wellness within the organization.

Dorothy Reid, M.A., R.Psych.

Dorothy is a Clinical Manger with extensive experience with the correctional system and has been involved in the development, implementation and evaluation of treatment strategies for high risk, high need offenders. She has implemented and managed Employee Assistance and Critical Incident Stress Management programs on a regional level. She has clinical certification in Critical Incident Stress responses (International Critical Incident Stress Foundation – Advanced) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing.

Dorothy is an experienced facilitator with extensive experience in staff training in issues such as compassion fatigue, trauma and burnout focusing on both individual and organizational strategies to maintain health in high risk environments.

She has been an invited speaker for both national and international conferences on issues related to treatment programs for offender and support services for staff and caregivers.
